Thanks to the generosity of the Human Services Alliance of Greater Prince William, NAKASEC VA is able to support our friends & family living in Prince William County!

We are accepting applications for housing and utility assistance and will pay directly for your bills, whether it be rent, utilities, prescription medication, etc. We can only accept 1 application per household. The amount of financial assistance provided to each household will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

The application is available in English, Korean, and Vietnamese.

Whether you decide to vote early in-person, by mail, or on November 3 at your local polling place, it is imperative that we, as Asian Americans, make our voices heard and fulfill our civic duty this Election Day! However, due to the continuing pandemic, voting by mail will be the safest and most secure way to cast your vote for this upcoming presidential election without putting yourself or anyone else at risk.

How to vote by mail:

1. Apply for your absentee ballot online. You can also apply by pdf form and mail, fax, or email the pdf to your local general registrar (find your registrar’s addresses + phone numbers here).
2. Follow all instructions to fill out your ballot when it arrives. You do not need a witness signature for this election!
3. Return your absentee ballot by mail, or hand-deliver the sealed ballot to your local general registrar or any designated drop-off box or satellite location up until Election Day.

Important Info:

• Request and return your ballot as soon as possible to avoid delays.
• Track the status of your application and ballot at nakasec.org/vote.

IMPORTANT DATES:

• 9/18 - First day of early voting in-person; absentee ballots will begin to be mailed out
  
• 10/13 - Deadline to register to vote or update your voter registration
• 10/23 - Deadline to request absentee ballot by mail, fax, or email
• 10/31 - Last day for early voting in-person
• 11/3 - Election Day; last day to return your absentee ballot

NAKASEC VA is in a coalition of Northern Virginia community groups issuing the above demands to Arlington, Prince William, and Fairfax County Boards.

Safety is neither granted nor guaranteed to our communities with the presence of police or prisons. This is especially true for our Black, brown, migrant, undocumented, transgender, and disabled community members, who are disproportionately targeted and punished by this carceral system.

Police, prisons, and surveillance have been instituted for centuries as the absolute solution to eradicate violence and crime, so why do violence and crime still happen? We believe that addressing the root causes of harm and violence in our communities is the way to ensure safety and stability for all, which includes investing to our healthcare, housing, education, and employment.

It’s now or never- take the Census to make sure your communities get the resources they need! Data from the Census determines allocation of funds and resources for our communities for the next 10 years, which includes schools, healthcare programs, roads/public transportation, and political representation. Every person not counted means your community loses up to $2,000 per year!

You can respond online, over the phone (844-330-2020), or by its mailed questionnaire. If you don't know your Census ID, don't worry- you can enter your address/location instead.

NAKASEC VA is seeking a Korean-speaking Health Navigator! They will organize, do outreach, and help enroll community members for healthcare coverage, especially for the Affordable Care Act (ACA), during and after its open enrollment period.

This position is remote but is based in Annandale, VA; candidates must live in Virginia. Salary and benefits is $40K (commensurate with experience), and full health, dental, and vision insurance. Apply immediately; we are looking for a candidate who can start on October 12, 2020.

NAKASEC VA is seeking part-time canvassers for our 2020 civic engagement campaign. They will share and disperse important voting information to Virginia residents’ doorsteps, and directly talk with them in phone and text conversations.

This position is based in Annandale, VA, with regular travel throughout Northern Virginia. Its duration will be October 1, 2020 - November 3, 2020. As part-time, this job will average 10-25 hours/week, at $15/hour. Apply immediately!
 

Community members can assist with specific programs, such as naturalization clinics or civic engagement activities, or can provide general office support ranging from data entry to translation assistance.
